5 Stars Excellent Film and Excellent Blu-Ray
I bought the original DVD of this movie and I was very disappointed with the quality of that transfer. The Blu-Ray version however is amazing.
Having grown up playing Doom, it was great to see what basically is the same plot but in live action and not as cheesy as the Doom movie was. The special effects hold up very well and the direction of the film is great. A lot of tension and suspense.
If this movie interests you then you should try the video game Dead Space as well.
5 Stars Great Movie
Great movie. They really enhanced this over the old VHS tape I had. I loved this movie back then, and I love it even more now. Colors were great and so were the details.
4 Stars A Good Follow-up For Event Horizon Fans
This is a well-made sci-fi horror film standing out in a genre where so few of them make much of an impact beside great ones like Alien. The cast is strong, portraying well scripted characters. The horror is constant and genuinely creepy throughout. I can’t think of too many other sci-fi horror films that do a better job.
As far as the Special Edition is concerned, fans of the movie such as myself, will be pleased at the amount of attention spent on a movie over ten years old. Film documentary watchers will have plenty to watch and the deleted scenes are interesting to see without the special effects placed in. A good amount of content for film enthusiasts.
4 Stars Finally on Blu-ray
If you’re looking at the Blu-ray reviews and deciding whether to purchase then you’ve likely already seen this flick so I will not waste your time with the stuff you already know.
I picked this up locally the day it came out. Now you bought your Blu-ray player for jaw dropping visuals one would assume. This movie will NOT give that to you. That being said, the movie is a lot sharper on Blu-ray, the colors are more distinguished, and you will notice more in the background. The truly impressive visuals are found in the warp drive - spike ball, gyroscope engine drive thing. There is a grainy look to the film as well.
If you’ve been a fan of this movie by all means purchase it. It’s a unique film, a piece of art in my opinion and well worth the money. HD snobs who can’t get beyond a PERFECT transfer will trash the movie as you have already read if you’ve made it this far down the line of reviews
3 Stars BLU RAY Review
Love the movie but no wow effects on the video quality. Id say that the upconversion on the standard dvd would be of same detail that of this blu ray edition.
Hercules Disney Gold Classic Collection

Not the egregious foul it seemed to be in theaters, Hercules stands up as an entertaining spritzer of an animated feature. The continual peppering of in-jokes and cultural references becomes less irksome on video. That there’s no majesty or awe invested in the beloved Greek legends also seems less of an error. Also on the plus side is the bounciest Alan Menken music since Little Shop of Horrors. With Zeus’s blood in his veins, young Hercules’s amazing strength makes him an outcast (sorry, that still doesn’t fly), so he trains with a satyr named Phil to become a hero. Along the way Herc meets Meg, a common mortal who falls hard for him. They’re both against the jocular Hades, who has to destroy Hercules to take over Olympus. The hydra is the computer-animated set piece for this little number, a no-chance attempt to beat that wildebeest herd from The Lion King. –Keith Simanton

5 Stars Great Present
This was a present for my girlfriend who collects disney dvds. This one was a rare find and I could not beat the price I got it for excellent product!!
4 Stars Hercules Review
The only problem with the movie is the sound is messed for the first 5 minutes. It’s really quite then all of a sudden it’s really loud.
1 Star Um,
I never recieved this product, even though I paid for it. I realize it was just a video tape, but I still should have gotten it by now right? It never got here.
2 Stars Great movie, terrible video quality.
This review specifically refers to the Gold Collection DVD. The transfer to DVD is one of the worst I’ve ever seen - I upgraded from a VHS tape and the video quality of both are about on par. It’s watchable and the younger kids may not care, but very disappointing considering what it could have been. If you have a larger TV expect to be underwhelmed.
4 Stars Hercules
Our 7 year old daughter loves this movie! It was #1 on her Christmas list as we lost our original. Danny DeVito is hilarious! It’s a great little movie about doing your best and “Going the Distance”. Great message, great music, subtle adult humor, too.

This dark comedy from 1989 was a good showcase for Winona Ryder, playing a high school girl brought into a clique of bitchy classmates (all named Heather), and Christian Slater, doing his early Jack Nicholson thing. While Ryder’s character mulls over the consequences of giving up one set of friends for another, her association with a new boy (Slater) in school turns out to have deadly consequences. Director Michael Lehmann turned this unusual film into something more than another teen-death flick. There is real wit and sharp satire afoot, and the very fusion of horror and comedy is provocative in itself. Heathers remains a kind of benchmark in contemporary cinema for bringing surreal intelligence into Hollywood films. –Tom Keogh

1 Star Definitivamente sobrevalorada
4 Stars A Three-timer’s Review of the Blu Release
What more can be said about an classic 80’s movie? Probably not much, if anything. The odds are that most or almost all of those going for the Blu release already own the DVD or remember watching the VHS tape or maybe the movie in the theater, back in the 80’s. I will therefore focus on my impressions as an owner of the DVD as I watched the Blu Heathers and asked myself if it was worth buying it.
[For anyone who is new to Heathers, my advice is maybe read some movie reviews and then 'buy it' or at least 'watch it' and, if you are going to buy it, buy the Blu, if you have a Blu player.]
So, not sure if this is a statement about ‘Heathers’ or about the reviewer (that would be me) but, the fact is that I had Heathers as a VHS tape before I had it as a DVD. This Blu 20th anniversary is a timely and needed release and it doesn’t disappoint.
To make it short, what you get it’s very much the Blu-enhanced release of the Heathers DVD. It sounds better, the colors are shaper and more brilliant. I don’t believe I noticed any artifacts and, in some instances, I did have a few ‘aha’ moments where the Blu resolution enhancements were evident. This being a re-release of a late 80’s movie and a late 90’s DVD, the details are not as sharp as an original Blu but my suspicion is that even the original picture had an added and very slight dream-suggesting blur-glow as the story line tends to follow the border between a make-believe reality and a world of dreams and wishes that usually have something to do with murder or violence.
Overall, even though I still have the DVD version, I am happy to add Heathers to my Blu-ray library and it’s not likely that I will ever play the DVD again. For a Blu-ray release, NOT a restoration, this is as good as it gets and the price is right. The lack of any mind-blowing, Blu-ray specific extra features makes a 4-star rating for the Blu version of this 5-star movie the fair score.

3 Stars What to do with excess heathers?
Winona says this is a comedy about a serious matter. However I was watching the surface action and it did not take the time to think about any underlying meanings. I had no idea that Moby Dick does not contain the word “Eskimo” as pointed out in the movie. I was surprised as the different events took shape and can see myself in that situation. I had fun watching this movie.
However, I grew up in a different environment than the one in this film. C Rations before 1955 contained only one box meal with fruit. That was the ham and lima beans box; during high school and 60’s, we were lucky to have one “Heather” to a class. Now in the time of MRE’s (meals ready to eat) that has fruit in just about everything, Heathers abound. This requires the JDs of the world to once again bringing a natural balance to the high-school society. You will want to view it again for the nuances.
4 Stars One of favorites
Heathers has to be one of the funniest teen movies ever made. Wionna Ryder made a carrer makig movie in the lead role as Veroncia. Christan Slater proved he was the next Jack Nicholson in his role as JD. And all of the Heathers are hilarous with their one liners. Check it out

This gorgeous adaptation of Lucy Maud Montgomery’s classic children’s story is well worth watching with the whole family. Produced for Canadian television, it’s one of those rare productions that actually sticks to the book and even enhances it through first-rate performances and an excellent script. Set on bucolic Prince Edward Island in the late 19th century, Anne of Green Gables is the story of Anne Shirley, an imaginative and headstrong orphan. When brother and sister Marilla and Mathew Cuthbert decide to adopt an orphan boy to help Matthew work the farm, they are astonished when Anne arrives at the train station by mistake. “What use is she to us?” grumbles the gruff Marilla. “We might be of some use to her,” answers Matthew, who has taken an instant liking to the talkative Anne. As Anne grows up, her adventures are both hilarious and moving. It’s a delight to watch as she forms a friendship with the beautiful Diana and her admirer–the dashing Gilbert Blythe–then dyes her hair green, cracks a slate over Gilbert’s head when he calls her “Carrots,” and finds a sympathetic teacher who encourages her to attend college.
Richard Farnsworth is perfect as the shy and gentle bachelor Matthew, who confides to Anne that he never went courting because “I would have had to say something.” Colleen Dewhurst delivers a nuanced and powerful performance as Marilla, a seemingly cold-hearted spinster whose no-nonsense exterior conceals a warm heart. And as Anne, Megan Follows strikes the perfect note, maturing from freckle-faced orphan to elegant and poised young woman. –Elisabeth Keating

5 Stars Anne of Green Gables
This is one of my all time favorites. When the VHS tape wore out I had to have it on DVD.
5 Stars haunting treasure
My wife and I bought the “100 Aniversary” book of Anne of Green Gables” last October when we visited the author’s home on Prince Edward’s Island. After my wife finally finished it, I picked it up and could not put it down. The movie on this DVD is the same way. It sticks pretty well to the novel and only leaves out some scenes with the pastors wife.
Meghan Follows should get a lifetime achievement award for this unforgettable performance. She is absolutely beguiling in portraying Anne’s innocence, intelligence, imagination and goodness. This is a movie you’ll watch over and over; children’s behavior may change after reading the book or watching this movie, such is the impact of this story. I am a pediatrician and am recommending it for all the girls I see Anne’s age. Most have never heard of it tho most moms saw the movie on PBS and loved it.
All of the other characters in the movie, esp her adoptive parents give wonderful performances. Will stop here and offer some quotes from the book/movie:
Anne Shirley: My life is a perfect graveyard of buried hopes. That’s a sentence I read once and I say it over to comfort myself in these times that try the soul.
Mrs. Cadbury: Tell me what you know about yourself.
Anne Shirley: Well, it really isn’t worth telling, Mrs. Cadbury… but if you let me tell you what I IMAGINE about myself you’d find it a lot more interesting.
Anne Shirley: This is the most tragical thing that has ever happened to me
Anne Shirley: Mrs. Hammond told me that God made my hair red on purpose and I’ve never cared for Him since.
[Marilla, commenting on whether or not she'll keep Anne]
Marilla Cuthbert: If she can avoid catastrophe two days in a row, I might have a chance to make up my mind.
Anne has just fallen from a roof]
Diana Barry: Just say one word and tell me if you’re killed!
Anne Shirley: No… but I think I’ve been rendered unconscious.
Anne Shirley: Tomorrow is always fresh with no mistakes in it.

By all, buy this DVD!!
4 Stars It is what it is…decent price.
Product is as advertised - and not a bad price at all. I will say, however, that the product arrived 8 or 9 days AFTER the “delivery date estimate”…that sucked. but, it WAS right after the holidays, so…..
5 Stars Anne of Green Gables
What an incredible, heart-wrenching story! Megan Follows was phenomenal as Anne. The character lessons to be learned from this movie are too numerous to mention — a MUST SEE for anyone with children!
5 Stars Anne of Gree Gables: The Collection
This was a very enjoyable movie. A classic.
A good clean movie for any family to watch together. I appriciate the movies that are clean, no cussing, bad scenes that any family can watch together in company and not be embarrassed……

3 Stars If you own a working VHS copy, don’t bother…
I am generally not at all critical or cognizant of DVD quality, but those that have noted that the colors/animation on the DVD are dark are right. I have a VHS tape, but borrowed the DVD because the VCR is in another room. It looked awful.
5 Stars A Classic
The little mermaid was one of my favorite movies to watch as a kid. As and adult I still find it to be a fun movie to watch. Twenty years may have passed since its release but it has’nt lost any of its charm.
4 Stars Great movie!
One of my favorites and glad to have it in my collection. Amazon shipped it in perfect condition, great product!
1 Star Very disappointed…:(((
I never received my order after three weeks of waiting. Then I asked where my stuff is. I received “Sorry note” and refund of money.
I don’t understand what kind of business that Amazon and partners are doing. But as far as I know, it is not acceptable. I am wondering what happened if I don’t follow and ask where my stuff is…:(((
To me, the word “TRUST” is very importand in ONLINE ORDER BUSINESS, and they have lost it.
5 Stars Another one for the CA granddaughter’s collection!
Third purchase for my CA granddaughter’s collection. Amazon had some great selections, price wise, and I was pleased to find this at a good price. It is now in her collection and she will enjoy it for years to come!
